Sources

The sources we read

SigB weights what it reads by source class. Primary records and regulators carry the most weight. Peer-reviewed journals and specialist trade press anchor domain claims. General and regional news outlets supply breadth. Open community channels (Reddit, Hacker News) are read as early, unverified indicators. They do not count as corroboration. Below are the roster and the domains and regions it covers. Machines can read the same roster at GET /api/sources.

The roster, by class

Each name links to that source’s site (opens in a new tab).

Preprints & working papers

Community & weak-signal channels

Representative, not exhaustive. Receipted claims name and link their sources; unreceipted attention signals are labeled as leads, not sourced claims.

From sources to signals

Everything above is on the desk’s standing reading list. Every alias of a name resolves to one entity, so the same story connects across domains. Each story is checked against live prediction markets where a market exists. What reaches you names what moved and why it matters, with the sources attached. The API page states how fresh each part of the record is.

Two disciplines police the pipeline. Every published claim names its origin β€” the outlet that ran it. Whether a claim has a working one-hop link back to that outlet is measured claim by claim. On the Hormuz record, 11 of the 11 claims in its summary of what independent sources agree on have one, measured 16 Oct 2026. The record's longer press archive is not part of this count. A second, independent model cross-checks generated text against the source material before anything is published. Prediction-market prices are a sensor we cite alongside reporting. We grade that sensor against how events resolve. The maintained record is public at the record, and the grading data for the cited sensor at GET /api/calibration-data.
